Payment to the Earth is another ancient and sacred ceremony still used by indigenous Andean peoples to give thanks to Pachamanca, or Mother Earth. Conducted by a shaman, it consists of arranging small amounts of native cereals, fruits, and grains, as well as coca leaves, as offerings.
