1 - Full day Kathmandu heritage tour
Explore Kathmandu Valley’s history with a tour around the three UNESCO heritage sites of Bhaktapur Durbar Square along with the religious sites of Pashupatinath, Boudha and Swayambhu MahaChaitya. Located at one of the highest hillocks in Kathmandu, Swayambhu MahaChaitya (Monkey temple), is equally revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. Swayambhu also offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley. Boudha is one of the largest stupas in Asia, giving you a glimpse of the Buddhist culture and tradition practiced in Kathmandu Valley. At Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site, the rituals and religious proceedings on the Bagmati river is a huge delight to watch while you cannot miss the impeccable wooden architecture gracing every part of the holy temple. Bhaktapur located 13 km from Kathmandu is one of the most traditional areas in the valley. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is renowned for its cultural and architectural wonders. The first structure at the main square is the famous 55 window palace. Bhaktapur is also famous for its two gates, the lion gate and the Golden Gate (Lu Dhowka in Nepalphasa), intricate in design, and considered a masterpiece.
2 - Mountain flight
If you want to see the Himalayas up close and personal, a mountain flight is the way to go. Mountain flights are operated by Buddha Air, Nepal’s domestic airline. The airline exclusively gives passengers window seats, so you won’t have to crane your neck from your aisle seat to see the Himalayas.This early morning flight that starts from 6 AM gives you a once-in-a-lifetime experience of a bird eyes view of the 20 highest peaks of Nepal, including the mighty Sagarmatha or Mount Everest. The 50 minutes flight starts from the nearest mountain in Kathmandu, the Langtang Lirung Peak, and then heads east to Mount Everest. You enjoy uninterrupted stunning views of the world’s tallest peak from your seat, 20 miles away. One of the advantages of taking the mountain flight is that you have a front-row seat to the mountains.
3 - Nagarkot overnight stay
Located 16 miles away from Kathmandu, Nagarkot, a hill-top town is famed for its panoramic mountain view including Mount Everest from the north-east. It is also well-known for its awe-inspiring sunrise and sunset. Nagarkot has always been a go-to-place for short getaways a few hours drive from Kathmandu. A short hike to its view tower is highly recommended giving 360 views of the surrounding hills and mountains. In the afternoon, the luxurious retreat hotel offers various amenities and services, including a range of spa treatments for after-trek, fatigue to a pampering self care day.
4 - Overnight rafting trip
In addition to the daunting mountains, Nepal also boasts of its water sports. Trishuli river is one of the most popular rafting destinations in Nepal. With its stunning scenery, gorges, and exciting rapids and close distance from Kathmandu, river rafting in Trishuli is the perfect option for a short adventurous break. The waters of Trishuli originate from the melting snow of Mount Ganesh and Langtang Himal. The waters of Trishuli are Class III with rapids. The river offers an exciting route with bends and chutes, while you tackle exciting rapids.
5 - Chitwan Jungle Safari
The Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chitwan offers visitors a perfect respite for those who want to unwind from the daily rush of work or the perfect place to rest after a long trek. The Chitwan National Park is home to the one-horned rhino that is only found in Nepal. Chitwan offers jeep rides for jungle safari. Boating along the Rapti River on the western side of the Chitwan National also offers an exciting experience to view the Gharial alligator lazing around at the river bank. The Chitwan National Park is home to a quarter of the last remaining gharial alligators in the world. Early mornings or evenings are the perfect time to embark on a river ride. For those who want to observe wildlife from up close, Chitwan National Park also offers jungle walks led by experienced guides. Chitwan is also home to the ethnic Tharu communities. You can visit the local Tharu village and interact with the locals on their culture and way of life.
