Salkantay 2-day hike. Salcantay is the second highest mountain in Cusco, Peru, at about 6,275 meters high. This trek will bring you to the most beautiful landscapes. In the surrounding areas, there are mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, and lagoons. On this tour, you will visit Humantay Lagoon and Salkantay Lagoon. These places are very beautiful, and you will have a great time on the mountain if you have already visited Machu Picchu and you would like to explore more of the Andes Mountains. As operators of the Salkantay hike, we give you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Salkantay Trail. You just need a few personal things to complete this 2-day hike, and the rest we are going to provide you. Best of all, you will sleep at our exclusive and private campsite called Quiswarniyoc, a unique and beautiful area complete with MOUNTAIN SKY HUTS.

DAY 1: CUSCO – HUMANTAY LAKE – QUISWARNIYOC PRIVATE CAMP
After picking you up from your hotel, we will leave Cusco at around 5:45 am and head toward the town of Mollepata. Once in Mollepata, we stop to have a delicious breakfast and also pay an entrance fee of 10 soles to the local municipality. Then we will continue by car for one hour more to Soraypampa, where we will meet with the muleteers and horse who will take all the luggage, food, and the 7 kilos of personal belongings of each guest. We will start the uphill hike to Humantay Lagoon. When you arrive at the lagoon, you will have enough time to explore, take photos, and the guide will explain the history and meaning of the Humantay Lagoon. After a couple of hours at the lake, we will start going down to the exclusive Quiswarniyoc camp to have a healthy lunch. After lunch, you have free time to explore the beautiful area, and also, if you like hiking, you can go up to Mirador of Salkantay for a panoramic view of the entire region. If you are tired, you can rest in the MOUNTAIN SKY HUTS, which are the cabins with glass doors. Inside are pillows, a sleeping pad, and illumination for the night. QUISWARNIYOC PRIVATE CAMP: This is an exclusive camp located at 4,000 m. It is a unique camp that has places for short hiking, mountain overlooks, and waterfalls. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains. There are many llamas at the camp that you can take pictures of while exploring the area.

DAY 2: QUISWARNIYOC – SALKANTAY LAKE (4630M) – CUSCO.
The second day of the trek is a little hard because it takes you up to the top, the highest point of the whole Salkantay trail, to enjoy the fantastic views of the mountains, and you will also visit Salkantay Lake. The cooks will wake you up at around 5:00 am with a cup of hot coffee or tea. Then you have time to repack and get ready for the nutritious breakfast, which will be served around 5:45 am. Afterward, it is time to start hiking up to the highest point of the Salkantay Trail, which is 4,630 m and takes 3 to 4 hours, all uphill, with a regular and slow pace. Once you are at the highest point, you have time to enjoy the mountains and take pictures while the guide will teach you about the mountain gods. Also you will be part of a small Andean ritual honoring the Apus, the mountain gods. Then you will walk back to Soraypampa for 2.5 hours downhill where you will meet your transportation, which is going to take you to Mollepara for one hour for lunch and after two more hours to Cusco by car. You will arrive in Cusco at approximately 6:00 pm.
