Overview

Namibia is a land defined by vast horizons and dramatic natural contrasts. From the towering dunes of the Namib Desert to the wildlife-rich plains of Etosha National Park, this journey reveals some of the most striking landscapes on the African continent.

Beginning in Windhoek, the route travels south into the Namib-Naukluft region, where immense red dunes rise above the desert floor and ancient camel thorn trees stand against a backdrop of deep blue skies. Along the Atlantic coast, Swakopmund introduces a unique cultural blend of German heritage and African influence, while the surrounding desert reveals a surprising diversity of life adapted to its arid conditions.

The experience culminates in Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s great wildlife sanctuaries. Here, vast salt pans and open grasslands attract lions, rhinos, giraffes, elephants and a remarkable variety of birdlife.

Day 01

WINDHOEK

ARRIVAL IN WINDHOEK

Your journey begins in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city. Upon arrival at the airport, a private transfer brings you to your hotel where you have time to settle in before the evening. Later, meet your guide and fellow travelers for a welcome meeting, followed by an included group dinner at the hotel restaurant.

SESRIEM

Depart Windhoek and travel south toward Sesriem, the gateway to Namib-Naukluft National Park. The drive introduces Namibia’s stark desert landscapes, where red-hued dunes, camel thorn trees and vast open plains dominate the scenery. Along the way, keep watch for wildlife adapted to the arid environment, including oryx, springbok, jackal and hyena. Upon arrival at your lodge, the remainder of the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the surrounding desert landscape as the sun sets across the dunes.

Day 03

SOSSUSVLEI

SOSSUSVLEI AND SESRIEM CANYON

Today explores the remarkable landscapes of Namib-Naukluft National Park, home to the world’s oldest desert. Visit the immense dunes of Sossusvlei, where towering orange sand formations surround a stark white clay pan. Nearby Deadvlei offers one of Namibia’s most iconic scenes, where ancient camel thorn trees stand silhouetted against the dunes and the brilliant blue sky. Later, visit Sesriem Canyon, a natural gorge carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years.

Continue north through changing desert landscapes toward the coastal town of Swakopmund. Along the journey, keep watch for roaming zebra, kudu, springbok and oryx. A stop at a local bakery offers a chance to sample freshly baked apple pie before continuing toward the coast. Later, join a guided bushman walk through the desert to learn about the traditional survival strategies of indigenous communities who lived in this harsh environment for thousands of years. During the walk, observe the smaller wildlife that inhabits the desert, including reptiles, insects and other adapted species. Arrive in Swakopmund later in the day with time at leisure. Dinner is independent this evening with several options available in town.

Day 05

WALVIS BAY

Today begins with an excursion to Walvis Bay and the dramatic landscapes of the Namib-Naukluft coastline. Travel toward Sandwich Harbour where towering dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on tide conditions, drive along the beach and continue through the dunes by 4x4 vehicle. Pause along the route to enjoy lunch at a private location within the park while taking in views of this striking coastal desert environment. In the afternoon, return to Swakopmund for a guided visit to Mondesa township. Learn about the local community and its history, explore the local market and discover traditional foods such as wild spinach, mopane worms and dried sardines. The day concludes with dinner and a cultural performance hosted by a local family-run establishment.

SWAKOPMUND AT LEISURE

Enjoy a free morning in Swakopmund, allowing time to explore the town’s distinctive Afro-German character. Optional activities are available, including sandboarding in the Namib Desert, sea kayaking or guided cycling tours through the historic Old City. In the evening, gather once again with the group for an included dinner at the hotel.

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Depart Swakopmund after breakfast and travel north toward Etosha National Park, one of Namibia’s most renowned wildlife destinations. Stop in the town of Outjo for a break before continuing toward the park. Upon arrival at your lodge located outside Etosha National Park, the evening is free to relax or participate in an optional wildlife drive in the surrounding area.

Day 08

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK SAFARI

Today is dedicated to wildlife viewing in Etosha National Park. Exploring the park in an open safari vehicle, travel across landscapes where open grasslands converge with the immense Etosha salt pan. The park supports large populations of elephants, lions and numerous other species, making it one of the most rewarding wildlife destinations in Southern Africa. Pause for lunch at one of the park’s rest areas and observe animals gathering at nearby waterholes.

Day 09

WINDHOEK

CHEETAH CONSERVATION FUND AND RETURN TO WINDHOEK

After breakfast, visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund, a globally recognized research and education center dedicated to protecting the world’s fastest land animal. During the visit, learn about the organization’s conservation work and community initiatives before touring the facility and observing rescued cheetahs in a protected environment. Later, continue the journey back to Windhoek for the final evening.

DEPARTURE FROM WINDHOEK

After breakfast, your journey concludes with departure from Windhoek. Transfers to the airport are arranged according to your flight schedule.
