Overview
Neighbouring Colombia and Peru, Ecuador is a relatively small country that nevertheless offers an enticing array of scenic landscapes, diverse wildlife species and interesting cities. Dense Amazon rainforest, towering Andean mountain peaks, palm-fringed Pacific Coast beaches and fascinating historical sites are all part and parcel of Ecuador’s prolific charms. The former Inca town of Cuenca is the nation’s third-largest city and a Unesco World Heritage Site. This alluring city, with its cobbled streets, beautiful architecture and photogenic plazas, boasts a huge variety of museums and art galleries. The vibrant capital city of Quito is also worth a visit. Arguably the most dazzling jewel in Ecuador’s crown is the Galapagos Archipelago in the Pacific, about 1000 kilometres west of the mainland. Their magnificent, pristine landscapes and prolific wildlife, which inspired Charles Darwin, have made this cluster of islands a world-famous travel destination.

Day 1: San Cristobal Island
Welcome to the Galapagos! As you step off the plane onto San Cristobal, a warm and friendly guide awaits to escort us to our comfortable lodging.
Our day is brimming with adventure as we set off to discover the enchanting island of San Cristobal. Our journey begins at the Galapagos Interpretation Center, an educational hub that unravels these idyllic islands’ captivating natural and anthropological history.
Next, we ascend the verdant Frigate Hill, a sanctuary for an array of fascinating marine birds such as majestic frigate birds, graceful pelicans, and vibrant boobies amongst others. From this mesmerizing vantage point, we will get our first taste of the extraordinary biodiversity that makes the Galapagos unique.
We’ll head to the serene Carola Beach to cap off our day. Here, we’ll immerse ourselves in the crystal-clear waters, snorkel among the colorful marine life, or relax on the pristine sands, soaking up the sun.
Today’s Activities: Walking, Snorkeling, Swimming
Day 2: San Cristobal Island
The approved itinerary dictates that we either commence our journey with a visit to Kicker Rock, followed by the beach, or we reverse the order. The specific beach we head to—either Manglesito, Puerto Grande, or Cerro Brujo—depends on the boat’s schedule.
Our first destination is typically Kicker Rock, a 45-minute journey from our starting point. Known as Leon Dormido in Spanish, this rock formation off the coast of San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos Islands resembles a sleeping lion. Rising 500 ft above the ocean, this small yet majestic island is a popular spot for various marine birds. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel for an hour in the 35-meter-deep channel of Kicker Rock, which reduces to a depth of 12 meters as you progress. The marine life you can expect to encounter includes white-tip sharks, black-tip sharks, Galapagos sharks, eagle rays, turtles, and a variety of fish.
Next, we visit Manglesito Beach, which offers two distinct areas for exploration: the mangrove area and the beach itself. The former is perfect for spotting aquatic bird life, while the latter provides an ideal spot for relaxation or swimming. In the mangrove area, you’ll come across a lagoon inhabited by animals such as patios, terms reales, and zarapitos, among other native species. The beach is adorned with vegetation like sesubium edmonstonei and button mangrove. After approximately 30 minutes of travel from Kicker Rock, we’ll spend an hour at Manglesito Beach. Lunch will be served on the boat before you set out to explore the beach.
Please note that each day brings different conditions; consequently, the animals that can be spotted may vary.
Day 3: San Cristobal Island
Begin your adventure with a journey to Lobos Island, a birdwatcher’s paradise, where you can spot Pelicans and various shore birds. Located just a 30-minute boat ride from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, Lobos Island lets you walk amidst blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, and marine iguana nests. Your trek along a half-mile trail will take approximately one hour, leading you through landscapes of dry vegetation, volcanic rock, and sandy terrain.
Post-trek, prepare for an exhilarating snorkeling experience off the coast of Lobos Island. This underwater adventure offers opportunities to see playful young sea lions, graceful turtles, and stealthy stingrays.
Next, we’ll navigate towards the beautiful Ochoa Beach, a trip of about 30 minutes. Here, enjoy a delicious lunch served on the boat and an hour of leisure to bask in the beach’s beauty before returning to the port. Please note that wildlife sightings can vary daily due to changing conditions.
In the afternoon, gear up for a Kayaking trip at Playa Mann. Paddle along the coast, watch for seabirds, and continue kayaking until you reach the earwigs, a favored snorkeling spot.
Today’s Activities: Sailing, Snorkeling, Swimming, Kayaking & Walking.
Day 4: Puerto Ayora
Begin your day with a transfer to the Puerto Baquerizo Moreno pier, where you’ll board a speedboat for a 3-hour journey across the azure waters to Santa Cruz Island in the heart of the Galapagos.
Upon arrival in Santa Cruz – Puerto Ayora pier, a friendly representative will greet and escort you to your hotel.
Your morning is packed with exploration and discovery on the captivating island of Santa Cruz. Begin your day by exploring the fascinating Las Grietas. A scenic trail leading through a beach and charming lagoons will guide you to this extraordinary location. Once there, you’ll notice two distinct water levels – fresh water at the surface and the salty sea water below. The crevices are nestled between two cliffs, providing an idyllic spot for a swim or a tranquil break. At Las Grietas in the Galapagos, visitors can expect to see various intriguing wildlife. The mangroves and Opuntia cacti along the trail are often bustling with activity. Notably, you can find little black finches fluttering about. Additionally, an abundance of marine iguanas is seen along the path, adding to the unique charm of this location.
Relish a delightful lunch at a local restaurant before setting off for the afternoon’s adventure.
Our next destination is Tortuga Bay, one of the world’s top ten beaches. A 1.5-mile walk through a dry zone, a forest of giant cacti, yellow flowers, and native Galapagos flora leads to this stunning location. Here, you’ll find two captivating environments. The first bay is expansive and open, with powerful waves. Numerous turtles frequent this spot during nesting season, hence its name, “Bahia Tortuga.” The second bay, tucked away at the end of the first, offers a perfect spot for relaxation and swimming. This wild combination of giant cacti and mangroves lining the seashore provides a unique backdrop for your retreat. In this place, you enjoy a refreshing Kayak expedition at the bay.
We will then return to Puerto Ayora.

Jennifer F2025-04-27Amazing Tanzanian Safari Nature Horizons planned an unforgettable Tanzanian safari for 20 guests on a yoga retreat. Beginning in the planning stages, Dominick was helpful, knowledgeable, and would go out of his way to ensure we had an amazing trip planned. He was on top of the details, such as collecting passport and travel info, and answered all of our questions. Because of NHT’s attention to detail? Our guests enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip. If we needed anything during our stay, Dominick was responsive and would get any problem resolved. Every detail was fine tuned, and several of the accommodations were beyond expectation. The guides he set us up would were funny, personable, and genuinely cared to make sure we had the best safari experience. I highly recommend the hot air balloon ride!If you are looking to plan a Tanzanian safari, FIBI! Look no further and reach out to Dominick for a life-changing vacation.

They ensured our safety, took care of all of our needs, and treated us with the best care and consideration even when some of us didn’t deserve it. This tour company is very PROFESSIONAL!! They know what they are doing and they do it very well. I would tour with them again in a heartbeat! The attached photo is completely untouched. This is how close they got us to the action! If we weren’t in the rover, this beautiful but very full, lioness was only feet away. We could see every beautiful detail of her.
Nancy C2025-04-06Lasting memories My trip to Tanzania was amazing. Nature Horizons put together a fantastic itinerary. Our guides were knowledgeable, hard working, and friendly. They turned the Safari from a trip into an awesome and unforgettable experience.
Getaway310895774142025-03-24A bucket list trip dreams are made of! Nature Horizons organized a trip for 20 people from our yoga community for a yoga and safari tour in Tanzania. Every detail was curated perfectly from the those greeting us at the airport to those touring us through the urban and cultural centers of Arusha all the way though an unforgettable experience in the Serengeti. Our 5 tour guides were friendly and fun and beyond knowledgeable and we got to see THE BIG 5!!! The locations they choose for our Safari camp and for our journey along the way were superb with perfect views for our yoga practice and the food was out of this world every place we went! We will for sure be traveling with Nature Horizons again, in fact we already have Egypt booked as our next destination!!! For world class bucket list travel these are your people. Rarely does one get the owner and CEO of a travel company hand selecting every detail of your trip and ensuring it goes off without a hiccup… this oversight and hand on help is unbeatable in the travel industry… trust me after a decade of taking yoga groups traveling, this is something you never see! Mary D2025-02-11Fantastic Safari My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the safari that we took thru Nature Horizons Tours in Tanzania last month. It truly was a trip of a life time. We saw lots of animals and birds throughout Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. To see 20 elephants (including babies) casually stroll by us was an experience I will never forget. Another time, we saw two herds of zebras that must have totaled 20,000 zebras. WOW! Our guide, Praygod was great and we really enjoyed spending time with him. He was great at identifying animals and provided lots of the environmental, historical and cultural information. I recommend bringing a notebook to write down all the animals you will see.One advantage we had with Natures Horizon compared to other Safari companies is that there are only four people in a jeep during the safari (well, plus the driver). This was really nice being able to easily see animals on both sides of the jeep without stepping over people. We saw a lot of jeeps that had 6 people in them.Everyone associated with Nature Horizons Tours and the lodges we stayed at went out of their way to make our stay/experience fantastic. We learned that if there was something that we wanted, we just had to ask. At the Kilimanjaro Lux Camp, Grace personally made avocado toast for us each morning. In Zanzibar, we asked the driver where we could buy spices and he took us to a local outdoor market which I appreciated as I enjoy experiencing the local experience. It was a great trip and I would have no doubt that I would go on another tour led by Natures Horizons
Trail311312224182025-02-11Fantastic Photo Safari I traveled with Nature Horizons to Tanzania in 2024. I am writing this review as a Travel Agent. My clients just returned from their safari with Nature Horizons. From the time they booked, Dominick was in close contact with both me and my clients. He made sure that all of our questions or concerns were handled very quickly. He took the time to do zoom calls with me and my clients more than once to make sure that they were comfortable with everything to do with the trip. While there were a couple of things lost in translation with his team in Tanzania, they were minor and were dealt with immediately. The driver/guide is the absolute best. The lodging, while not close to town, was all very nice with fabulous food. The balloon ride is not to be missed! One of the things that I appreciate the most is that Dominick will not take more than 4 people in a vehicle, even though more can fit. He wants every passenger to have the best view, no matter which side of the vehicle has the views of the wildlife. I am very happy with Dominick and his team at Nature Horizons and would not hesitate to use them again for myself and my clients!
Geri M2025-02-10Tanzania and Serengeti Safari Phenomenal experience! Once in a lifetime trip! The guide was top of the line! I would suggest this trip to everyone! We added on Zanzibar and that was beautiful as well
